Fallout 76 Back To Basic Quest Guide And Training Steps
The Back to Basic quest in Fallout 76 serves as an essential rite of passage for wastelanders seeking official military enlistment. Located at Camp McClintock, this automated military training program allows players to earn their Soldier Certificate, unlocking access to advanced story missions and faction areas. Completing this quest efficiently requires preparing properly, equipping the right gear, and finishing four distinct training challenges.
Starting the Quest and Procuring Your Uniform
To begin your enlistment, travel to Camp McClintock in the Forest region of Appalachia and report to Master Sergeant Gutsy. Before official training begins, you must equip a set of military fatigues and an Army helmet. If you do not already possess these items, search the nearby barracks to locate Private Archibald's uniform voucher and exchange it at the quartermaster dispenser.
Mastering the Core Training Courses
After putting on your military attire, speak with the Master Sergeant again to unlock three training modules that can be completed in any order. The Marksmanship Course tests your speed and accuracy by requiring you to shoot paper targets within a strict time limit. The Agility Course tasks players with navigating a timed obstacle course, while Patriotism Training tests your deduction skills by investigating suspicious records inside the compound.
Surviving the Live Fire Exercise
Once the three initial courses are finished, Master Sergeant Gutsy sends you to the firing range for a live combat trial. During this exercise, you must defeat three aggressive waves of simulated communist robots that increase in difficulty. Bringing sufficient ammunition, healing items, and high-damage weapons ensures a smooth transition through every enemy wave.
Graduation Rewards and Next Steps
After destroying the final wave of combat robots, return to Master Sergeant Gutsy to complete the quest. You will be granted valuable experience points, caps, and the crucial Soldier Certificate. Obtaining this certificate enables you to register for a government ID at the DMV and proceed further into major faction storylines like the Brotherhood of Steel and Enclave.
